Diet tips while on summer holiday – 6 steps to success

Listed below are a few Diet tips while on summer holiday to prevent going off track

  • Drink lots of water throughout the day and at the dining table. Considering that you’ll probably be walking around and sightseeing a lot, it’s important to stay hydrated anyway. Drinking water will help you feel fuller and prevent you from eating as much or craving as much food at meals.
  • Steer clear of the bread. Most restaurants will provide various bread at the table while you wait for your meal to arrive. Yet, this bread will often end up preventing you from enjoying your meal as much (since you’ll already be feeling full) and will fill you up with lots of empty calories. If you really appreciate this part of the restaurant experience, try restricting yourself to just one piece.
  • Be weary of of salads. Many people try to maintain their diet by staying to salads while on summer holiday. Regrettably, most of those massive salads served at restaurants are covered in high calorie dressings and various toppings, making them possibly more fattening than the seemingly “diet dangerous” options on the menu! If you choose to have salads, ask the waiter or waitress to go lightly on the dressing or if they have any low-fat options, and go easy on the toppings.
  • Have just the main meal. If your loved ones and friends who are on summer holiday with you are the types to order lots of different appetizers, salads, and desserts, try to stick to just having a main. Usually, this is the one with the most veg and the lowest in calories, so you can’t go wrong.
  • Make the most of any sightseeing or attractions that include physical exercise. If you’re somewhere where you can go for walking tours, hikes, museum tours or essentially anything that involves moving, take advantage of it and revel in the fact that you’re exercising while enjoying yourself on summer holiday! Your pictures will probably turn out a lot nicer than if they’re all taken from a car, anyway!
  • Help each other out. If you are going on holiday with some friends or family, them try and avoid the ice creams together. A little morale support and being accompanied be someone else whom is trying to resist goes a long way towards you beating those temptations.
  • Above all, have fun with yourself. You’ve no doubt been spending so much time at work, so let yourself have a little pizza or or beer, or whatever it is that you love. You’re on summer holiday, so try to accept that you’ll most likely go off track a little bit, but done properly it won’t have to damage all the slimming  you’ve been doing so far.

I hope you put those Diet tips while on summer holiday into action this year, and if you can combine weight loss and exercise into a holiday then… good for you!

I agree that always drinking water throughout the day will help keep us from overeating during summer trips. Normally, I opt for salads when dieting, but was corrected by my cousins who said that salads having lots of mayo and dressings could make me fatter than when eating a main course meal. In the end of a summer holiday, no matter what it is you eat, you won’t actually gain weight if you only eat in moderation.
